Bishnu Subedi   Film Journalist

There is proverb, “Where is the fruit-bearing tree not bent? Yes, anyone will give him this title in their first meeting. There is no need of explanation for introducing him; it shall be all clear by his public image. He is not new face for many despite of not having official meeting. He is well known to all age groups from town to countryside working in any sector and class of the society. In addition, he is a pathfinder to the people egger to know about the movie sector. Despite looking normal guy in first glimpse, everyone knowing him closely knows that he is an amazing personality. In fact it has become his synonym to be successful in every step and new attempts of his field. He easily faces every challenges of his profession and takes it as an opportunity to prove himself. He has proved worth of his positional and professional existence as a Nepali film journalist through his impartial and research based journalism being honest to the profession and entire nation and citizens. It has become general introduction of film journalist and publisher/journalist and chairperson of Lensenepal.Com Mr. Bishnu Subedi who has been sharpened in all way possible in his field where he has challenged himself with different ideas its execution and ultimate success in all of those.

Introduction of Mr. Subedi is not limited up to this. He is really multitalented and versatile. He is also advisor of National Creator and Performer Academy and Metro Multimedia along with honorary member of ICT Journalist Development Forum, who is the first every film journalist to be honored with the national journalism award despite of working from outside valley. Film Journalist Association has honored him with “Film Journalism Prize-2009” Likewise, he was had worked as the vice president of Film Journalism Association of Nepal in 2013 A.D. at the age of 25 years and is also one of the youngest journalists to become station manager of the national television at the age of 30. Not only this, Mr. Subedi has also worked as eyewitness of the event while Master Saugat Bista was writing his name in the Gunnies Book of World Record as a youngest director to direct a full length movie from the movie “Love you Baba”. Mr. Bishnu was born on February 16, 1989 as youngest child among five daughters and two sons of Mr. Durga Prasad Subedi and Mrs. Ambika, at Parbat District, current Kushma, Wartd No. 12, Thulipokhari. He was admitted to nearby Janata Sudarshan Secondary School at the age of 4. He, who was good in study, passed SLC examination from there in 2003/2004 A.D. Then he moved to Pokhara for higher education. He then got admission in Prithvinarayan Multiple Campus. In that course of time, he, apart from study, was attracted towards journalism. At the same time, he also pursued some theoretical and practical education.

This is context of 2005. Now, daily hood of Mr. Bishnu is slightly changed. He, with aim of coloring his fate and contribute in nation development through journalism, joined Machhapuchchhre F.M. He worked there for 2 years, moved to Radio Barahi of Pokhara as a radio journalist in 2007.After some interval of time; he became shift in-charge. Since then, he has handle work from producer, editor, complete news editor, newsreader, program presenter, etc. After that he has worked as Program coordinator from Jan. April 2009 to December 2010. Most entertaining fact is, even though he was handling major responsibility at Radio Barahi, he was also busy in some other media. As like, he had worked as chief editor for Taja Abhimat National Weekly from 2006 to 2010 and Pokhara reporter of Filmy Khabar Weekly from 2009. On other hand, he was also secretary of Film Journalist Association, Pokhara Chapter from 2008 to 2011.

Mr. Subedi has had enormous knowledge and experiences regarding printing and electronic journalism in his long walk to now. All because of this, he, despite of many obstacles and hardship, entered Kathmandu in 2010. After coming to the capital, he had worked as chief reporter of Filmy Khabar Dot Com. Along with this; he had also worked as Shift In-charge and filmy program producer / host at Radio Rajdhani. He also continued Filmy Khabar Weekly. He had also worked as assistant director of a “Magical Thumb” broadcasted in Nepal Television Plus in the year 2009 and also worked as a coordinator of a reality show “Khoji Pratibhako, Season 2” of Nepal Television of the same year 2009. “I was honored with this opportunity in support of my radio gurus Amit Rijal and Tara Thapa and television legend Dinesh D.C.” Mr. Bishnu recalled those day, “I would like to give entire credit of my career up to now towards them.”

Mr. Bishnu got associated with Gopikrishna Entertainment from October 2011. In that course of time, he had worked as executive editor of Weekly Filmy under cinema sansar. In the meantime, he started hosting filmy news every day, which used to be broadcasted on a weekly basis on the TV Filmy of the same company. Mr. Bishnu became news chief of TV Filmy from the same year 2011. In this regard, he got credit of initiating research journalism in the Nepali filmy. In fact, after the initiation of the daily program by Mr Subedi, other leading television channels of the time like NTV, TTV, Avenues, Image, etc started broadcasting film-related programs every day, which used to broadcast such programs on a weekly basis. Radio filmy along with TV started lunching film-related news from 2012 and Mr. Bishnu Subedi was the news chief. Till then, there were just a general entertainment based programs about Nepali movie but Mr. Bishnu Subedi started Nepali film based debate program in the year 2013. As a result, Mr. Subedi was honored with the “National Television Journalism Honor - 2015” by Television Artists Forum in a grand ceremony organized on July 12, 2015. Likewise, in this course of stepping ahead in success path, Mr. Subedi became Deputy Station Manager of TV Filmy in the year 2015. After 2016, he engaged himself in research and database collection of Nepali films. As a result, a Nepali movie news and data based website named “lensenepal.com” was born on September 6, 2018. Mr. Bishnu Subedi claimed that this portal has almost information about Nepali movie, artists, filmmakers, technicians and many more since start of Nepali movie to now. Mr. Subedi, who was already elected in the post of councilor of Federation of Nepal Journalists in 2016, has been appointed as the station manager of TV Filmy 2018.

Mr. Subedi Subedi, who has proved himself as the pioneer and most researching journalist of this industry, has been honored with different national and internatonal awards and honors for his outstanding and praiseworthy work in this filed. He was honored with Film Journalist Honor - 2013 (Honored by Nepal Film Technicians Association), Film Journalism Honor-2013 (honored by Nepali Film Dancers Association), Film Journalism Honor-2015 (honored by Pakhrin Film Production), Film Journalism Honor-2016 (honored by Film Artists Association of Nepal), Sabin Memorial Film Journalism Prize - 2019 (honored in the occasion of 10th anniversary of Filmy Khabar Weekly), “Excellence In Film Journalism Prize - 2021 (honored by PIM Nepal Film Festival), Sparsh Music Video Award - 2021 (Best Cine Journalist), Film Journalism Honor - 2021 (honored by National Box Office Tele-Film Award), Chhayanchhabi Film Journalism Prize -2021 (honored by 12th  D Cine Award), Journalism Honor - 2021 (Birat Music and Film Award), Sagarmatha Art Journalism Honor - 2021 (honored in Sagarmatha Music Award), Art Journalism Award - 2021 (honored in Himalayan International Award), Film Journalism Honor - 2021 (honored by Nepal Kala Mandir), National Film Journalism Honor - 2021 (honored in Spiny Babbler International Film Festival-2022), National Film Journalism Honor - 2021 (honored in Quality Entertainment Award - 2021), National Film Journalism Prize - 2022 (honored by Film Journalist Association Nepal), etc. Not only this, in his long tenure as a successful film journalist, he has also worked as the jury member in different award shows like FAN Award-2015, Fourth INAS Award-2016 (Sikkim, India), National Film Award-2017/18, Third Nepal Cultural International Film Festival-2021, Third Nepal Short Film Award-2022, etc. Mr. Bishnu also has experience of editing dozens of souvenir of the related association and organizations.
