From her earliest days, Hari Maya's affinity for music was evident. Growing up in a culturally rich environment, she imbibed the essence of traditional Nepali music. Specializing in Nepali folk music, Hari Maya's songs carry the essence of her culture, resonating with the soul of the nation. Her renditions of folk songs have a profound impact on listeners and a deep connection to their culture.

Her journey as a singer began in 2002 with the song 'Gorkha Taaku Kot', marking the start of a prolific career. In 2003, she successfully passed the Vocal Test at Radio Nepal, a significant milestone that laid the foundation for her musical career. Since then, she has sung more than 50 songs. Some of her most memorable and hit songs include 'Chari Basyo', 'Chhutyo Maya', 'Thado Bhaka', 'Jala Jobanai' and 'Danda Kanda', each song capturing the essence of Nepali folk traditions while reflect to contemporary sensibilities.

Beyond music, she is a successful movie producer and actress. She produces movies that not only entertain but also convey messages of cultural significance. Notable films in which she played pivotal roles include 'Iku', 'Je Sukai Hos' and Gurung language movies like 'Naina', 'Manko Kura', 'Maa' and 'Chami Karma'. As the President of the West Regional Cultural Center and Vice President of prominent organizations, including the Federation of Indigenous Film and Lions Club of Kathmandu Budigandaki, she has wielded her influence to bring about positive change in communities.

Her impressive work has achived numerous awards and honors, including the AMIN National Music Award and the Music Khabar Music Award in 2019, as well as the National Capital Awards in 2022. Additionally, Hari Maya has been recognized and appreciated by various organizations.

Throughout her career, Hari Maya has performed on various stages, not only in different cities of Nepal but also in other countries, including Hong Kong, Italy, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India.
