Umesh's journey in the Entertainment Industry began in 2001 as a side dancer in movie song. In 2002, he Started direction music video. Since then, he has directed over 2500 music videos across various genres, showcasing his versatility and talent.

In 2008, Umesh started his career as a movie director. He gained valuable experience by working as an Assistant Director on successful films like 'Kaha Chhau Kaha' and 'The Flashback'. In 2019, he directed the movie 'Je Sukai Hos,' which received positive appreciation from the audience.

Umesh is the Founder and Managing Director of Quality Films Pvt. Ltd., a production company he established in 2009. He also the Vice President of the Kolki Society, Kathmandu, since 2023. Previously, he has worked as the Secretary of the Association of Music Industry Nepal from 2017 to 2022, showcasing his dedication to the development of the music industry.

Being a highly respected personality in the entertainment industry, Umesh holds memberships in verious organizations such as the Gurung Artist Association, Nepal Film Produce Association, Film Director's Guild of Nepal, and Music & Film Producer Society of Nepal.

Umesh Gurung has won many awards for his exceptional work. In 2013, he was awarded the Bindabasini Music Award for Best Music Video Director. That same year, he won the award for Best Music Video at the Young Minds Entertainment Award. In 2021, Umesh received the Nepal Music & Fashion Award for The Best Music Video Director. In 2019, he won the Epic Nepal Music Award as The Public Choice Music Video Director. Continuing his streak of success, Umesh secured the Best Music Video Director Award at the Nepal Music & Fashion Award in 2022.

Furthermore, Umesh has served as a jury member for prestigious events such as the Bishal Lumbini Lok Dohori Award 2023, Nim Award 2023, Well Dance Competition 2017, Devdaha Kids Dancing Idol 2017, and Miss National Icon in 2018 and 2019.

Umesh Gurung's remarkable contributions to the industry have garnered him several honors. He received the National Music Video Honor during the Mrs. Nepal Glam 2021 ceremony. Additionally, he was honored as a Music Video Director at the Jyoti Films Music Award 2021 and the Epic Nepal Music Award 2021. Furthermore, he was recognized with the National Personality Honor in 2021 Honor by Ribbon entertainment. Throughout his career, Umesh has received accolades from various other organizations, cementing his position as a respected and accomplished professional in the industry.
